MIST Tournament Rules

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. All players must be active Chanda paying Ahmadi Muslim members, and must be approved by their local Qaid

to play in the tournament.

2. All players must be from the same local Majlis. If your local Majlis does not form a team then you may join a

regional team or the nearest local Majlis to form one team. You will not be permitted to join a team from

another region unless your region did not form a team, you must join the region that’s closest to your Majlis.

3. A maximum of 10 players per team. Exceptions can only be made by the league supervisor.

A.

Game time is forfeiture time. If a team cannot field 4 players, then they will forfeit the game and the score will

be 2-0. After the first 2 min delay of game will be issue and the other team will shoot a Technical (1 shot); 2

min later another technical will be issued(1shot and the ball) after the 5th min the team will forfeit the game.

The forfeited game will not count for or against the opponent as it will be marked as a win and the total average

will be used for advancement purposes. OT games will add +1 or -1 in regards to point differential.

B. Clock

Games will consist of 2 half's. There shall be a 10-minute running clock for each half. In addition, the clock

will stop on all whistles during the last 2 minutes of second half if the opponent is within 20 points and if we do

not have a shot clock in place. (There will be a 30sec shot clock this year for some of the games)

In Playoff Round games the half’s may consist of 12-15 minute running clock for Division I teams only. The

last two minutes will consist of stop time in the second half even if there is a shot clock.

C. Overtime

In case of a tie, a 3-minute overtime period will be played with the clock stopping in the last minute on all

whistles.

One additional time out is allowed per overtime.

D. Time Outs

Each team is allowed one (1), 30 sec time-outs per half. Timeouts do not carry over to next half. A 2-minute

time-out will be granted between halves. Only in playoff round each team is allowed 1 additional timeout in

overtime.

E. Delay of Game

Any time a referee calls for a delay of game the other team will shoot 1 shot, and the possession will change. If

teams are not on the court at the given time a delay of game will be called after every two minutes. After the 5

minute mark the team or teams will be disqualified.

H. Mercy rule

If a team is leading more then 30 points in the second half the mercy rule will be applied. No team may have a

point differential of more then 30 points in a single game.

Round Robin Play:

Free Throws: After the 4th foul, teams will be in a 1-1 bonus and on the 7th foul we will shoot 2 shots in each

half.

Playoff Round:

Free Throws: After the 6th foul, teams will be in a 1-1 bonus and on the 10th foul we will shoot 2 shots in each

half.

All technical fouls are 2 shots and possession of the ball. In case of double technical both teams will shoot free

throws and possession of the ball will not change.

Player Ejection or Un-sportsmanlike Conduct

an aggressive manner will result in an automatic Technical Foul. Please be aware that striking at a player,

official or any other participant or spectator automatically results in ejection from the remainder of the

tournament and possibly future tournaments as well. Any player who is ejected from a game (before, during, or

after the game) will be required to sit out the next game unless the league supervisor feels more severe action

should be taken. Spectators and other participants who do not follow these guidelines will be asked to leave the

facility. (League supervisor, security, and Masroor Afsar may issue a technical foul at any point of the day for

all the items listed above. The technical foul shots will be enforced in your next game if you are not playing.)

advise the referees, who will issue a warning and then technical fouls will be assessed for every infraction.

All others must be seated in the stands or away from the bench. This is not negotiable and will be strictly

enforced.

Playoff Information

• The playoff games will be divided into two Divisions I, II.

• All 16 teams will advance to the playoffs 1-8 in division I and 9-16 in division II.

• The following criteria will be used to rank teams in their divisions. They are listed in order of importance.

1) Best overall record

2) Head to Head

3) Point Differential (Avg. if necessary)

4) Total Points Allowed

5) Total Points Scored

6) Coin Flip if three or more teams are tied, then the best point differential will be used to determine the winner

of the bracket. The remaining two team's order will be based on head to head for seeding purposes. The results

of the team not involved in the tie are not used.

Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya USA Guidelines

1. The Masroor International Basketball Tournament will be considered an Ijtema; therefore you

must follow the strict guidelines that you all have come to know at the National Ijtema.

2. Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya is responsible for each Khadim that attends this event

whether they are local to the USA or not.

a) No teams will be permitted to stay at hotels or locations that are not designated by the

hosting Majlis. Everyone must stay where the hosting Majlis is asking them to stay.

b) No one will be permitted to leave the hosting facility without permission and they will also

need to be accompanied by a local team member.

3. Everyone is required to follow the schedule that starts as of Friday night until Sunday

afternoon.

a) Any team that does not follow the schedule listed above will not be permitted to participate

in the competitions. The schedule requires everyone to observe their 5 daily prayers, if a

member is found to not have completed this or any other program on the schedule he will

not be permitted to participate in the competitions.

b) All players are required to come back to the mosque after they finish their games on

Saturday for dinner and Salat. Again if a member that has not completed this task on the

schedule they will not be permitted to participate in the competitions.

4. Tour of the city will be organized by the local Majlis; you should stay with the group when

going on the tour. You do have the option of staying at the mosque and viewing your

basketball games that were recorded, if you do not want to go on the tour.

5. Mixed Gatorade and water will be provided free but snacks and other treats will be for sale.

6. Only the Masroor Afsar may make exceptions to these rules and guidelines.
