The shining star from Atlanta Jammat is Qamar Ahmad. Qamar Ahmad moved to the U.S from Faisalabad, Pakistan in 1990 to pursuit a higher education. He completed his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Alabama and is currently working as a Senior Project Engineer at Schneider Electric. Qamar has a passion for mathematics, and in pursuit of his passion he returned to graduate school.  He hopes to attain a Masters degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University.

His father, Zaffar Razzaq, served as Qaid in CT and has been serving as Finance Secretary for the Connecticut Jama’at for over a decade. Umar serves his local Majlis as Nazim Maal (Finance). He currently attends the University of Connecticut (UConn) as a sophomore majoring in the newly emerged discipline of Biomedical Engineering where he maintains a flawless GPA.

This month’s Shining Star is Naser Noor of Los Angeles / Inland Empire. Born in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1970, Naser is the eldest of four brothers. As a young boy, he had many hobbies. Among those were stamp-collecting, as well as feeding local stray dogs that would have otherwise roamed the streets, looking for food. At the age of 19, he moved to the US with his family.

Following his heart seems to come naturally to Qasim Rashid, a University of Illinois graduate and currently a law student at Univeristy of Richmond. Born in Pakistan, his family came to the United States in the late 1980’s. His father, an Ahmadiyya Muslim missionary, moved the family to Washington, D.C. and later to Chicago, per Jamaat's instructions to spread the message of Islam Ahmadiyya.
While attending the University of Illinois, Qasim quickly realized that human interaction was what he enjoyed most. “I’ve always been talkative,” Qasim reveals. While excelling in English and public speaking, Qasim longed for a chance to use those skills for the greater good.

Dr. Mubashir Mumtaz, a surgeon at Harrisburg Hospital in Pennsylvania has become the first in the nation to implant a newly approved medical device called an AtriClip, designed to stabilize an irregular heartbeat.
