2007 December - Tuseef Chaudhry PDF Print E-mail
Shining Star of the Month- December 2007
Tuseef Chaudhry, Seattle Majlis

This month's Shining Star features Tuseef Chaudhry of Seattle Majlis.

Tuseef has always wanted to work with people in some capacity so that he can help them. When he was younger, he thought of becoming a police officer. In pursuit of such a goal, Tuseef was a police explorer for four years and a police cadet for two during his high school and college years. During his tenure as police explorer, he led the post as captain and received the Washington State Police Explorer of the Year award in 2002, and the Washington Law Enforcement and Explorer Association Scholarship in 2004. Along these lines, he went to Seattle University and obtained a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. Afterwards, he worked for a year as a contractor for a high-tech company, but soon realized it was not right for him as he was working with computers and not people!

So, Tuseef went back to graduate school in hopes of attaining a Masters in Criminal Justice. After talking to some people and writing a letter to Huzoor for guidance, Tuseef changed his direction by deciding to pursue the broader field of Public Administration. In regards to Public Administration, Tuseef says "You can apply it to any field you are going into to help you become an administrator. Consequently, it helps you reach a position of influence". Ultimately, Tuseef found just that. While pursuing a Master's, Tuseef serves as the Vice-President of Strategic Planning for the Graduate Student Council at Seattle University.

Tuseef's goal now is to go Law School after his Master's. The biggest thing that attracts Tuseef into law is the idea that one can do so much with it. "Lawyers are everywhere to make an impact", he says. He credits Brother Amjad Khan for being a great influence in his decision to pursue law. Tuseef is thinking of focusing on either International Law or Alternative Dispute Resolution (a novel and popular form of conflict resolution that involves a mediating stage in an effort to avoid going to court). Through one of these two focuses, Tuseef wants to help people, particularly Ahmadis.

As a shining star, Tuseef serves MKA as Mohtamim Sanat-o-Tijarat (National Secretary for Commerce and Trade). At a local level, he led his Khidmat-e-Khalq Department to earn second place for the Most Inspirational Majlis with such achievements as hosting a record-breaking blood drive (with the help of The University of Washington Ahmadiyya Muslim Student Association). Tuseef's passion of creating awareness about Islam has also taken him into several classrooms to give speeches about the basics of Islam.

Tuseef always encourages young Ahmadis to "go into a field through which you can make a better world and help strive towards helping humanity, to strive for Love for All Hatred for None.  Go for your passion, go for what energizes you, what makes your heart beat go up, what excites you, and make that your profession." Tuseef always maintains high expectations from the Khuddam: "I'm excited for our Khuddam. Great things are happening amongst our brothers and great things are going to come from them." He is very impressed by how much potential the Jamaat has and how many of our khuddam are in such competitive fields. Not only that, but also how many Khuddam have leadership positions in these competitive fields. Ultimately, it is this impetus that has driven Tuseef to his achievements and continues to drive him to his success.
