Shining Star of the Month - July 2008
Abdul Naseer, St Paul Majlis
After graduating from high school at the age of 15 (in 2003), he had to take a year off schooling as he could not find a suitable opportunity to further his studies abroad. However, that was the year he learnt most about the teachings of Islam through the window of Ahmadiyyat and was also able to devote time in preparing the publication of Wollof translation of the Holy Quran on the instruction of Ameer Jamaat, Gambia.

Abdul Naseer was born in 1988 in India to Ahmadi parents. By the grace of Allah the Almighty, his great grandfather joined the fold of Ahmadiyyat in the early 1920’s and was among the first to accept Imam Mahdi (AS) in the tiny group of Islands called Lakshadweep located off the southern coast of India in the Arabian sea.
After his father decided to devote his life to the Nusrat Jehan Scheme in 1991, in the year 2000 Jama’at posted him to Gambia in
West Africa . By the year 2001, Abdul Naseer and all his family moved to Gambia – a beautiful country in West Africa where the revelation to Imam Mahdi (AS) that ‘kings shall seek blessing from thy garments’ was fulfilled. Prior to moving to
Gambia , Abdul Naseer had the opportunity to visit Qadian for a period of three months where he learned Urdu while also studying the Holy Qur’an at Jamia Ahmadiyya. The time he spent in Qadian amidst blessed places like Bahishti Maqbara and Baitul Dua left a deep and lasting impression on his young mind.
Although he had missed his normal school schedule in
India while being at Qadian, Allah the Almighty had His own plans. Even though he had just completed Grade 7 while leaving India, the principal at
Nusrat
Senior
Secondary School (Jama’at school in The Gambia) encouraged his parents to get him admitted to Grade 10 (and it was beginning of the last quarter of the school year!). By the grace of Allah the Almighty, despite failing some subjects in the Grade 10 final exams, he was humbled by placing first in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in The Gambia at the end of Grade 12. He also received a medal from the President of The Gambia on being the best science student in the country. He can think of nothing but the sheer grace and mercy of Allah Almighty brought about by his parents decision to devote themselves to Ahmadiyyat as the reason behind such a sudden change in his fortune.

A year passed by quickly and by the grace of Allah Almighty, he received a scholarship from
Hanover
College in Indiana (US) to pursue education in the field of Physics – the subject of his passion. After completing two years at
Hanover
College while maintaining a position in the Dean’s list, he moved to
Minnesota and joined the St Paul Jama’at. In St. Paul, MN, he obtained a position as an Operations Technician at a semiconductor company in
Bloomington, MN . Although he missed a semester of schooling, he was able to join
University of
Minnesota (Twin Cities) with a Global Excellence Scholarship in Spring 07. Later he transferred to
St. Thomas
University in
St. Paul, MN where he is expected to graduate in Fall 2008.
By the time, he finishes his degree he will be a little over 20 years old which is amazing considering all his years which apparently wasted from secular point of view but Allah’s Grace reversed it totally fulfilling the Majestic prophecy of Hazrat Masih Maud (AS). Let’s remember Abdul Naseer, the shining star of MKA
USA in our prayers for his further success in his two passions – Physics and Service to Jamaat Ahmadiyya.
In Nov 07, he was requested to volunteer as Motamid of Majlis Atfalul Ahmadiyya which he happily accepted. He is also acting Nazim Tabligh in St. Paul Majlis.
