Shining Star of the Month - October 2008|
This eleven year old child is a sixth grader at Newman Elementary by profession, but a true Tifl at heart. In his profession as a primary school student, he enjoys science. In the profession of Majlis Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya, he enjoys the opportunity to serve. Although he is only a Tifl, he is a Khadim by birth. He is a servant by nationality. He is one of us by faith. Muizz Tahir Sosna is not just any other child in America; he is the child of MKA USA. Born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Muizz made it to the east since his birth to serve on the Khilafat Team along with over 200 Khuddam. He served as one of only two members from Majlis Atfal ul Ahmadiyya. “My responsibility as a Khilafat team member was parking- I had fun.” When Muizz arrived there, he was put to a challenge. It was raining and many people were getting stuck in the mud. Muizz along with his brothers in Islam worked diligently to get people out safely. There was caution tape and sticks all over the place and “I felt special being the only kid there. Before Hazoor arrived at the Masjid, he stopped his car and waved his hand through the window at me.” Muizz had a wonderful experience being part of the Khilafat team. In fact, he stated, “When I get older, I will send my kid to the Jalsa and have him be part of the Khilafat team to have the once in a lifetime experience.” Being the only kid from California (and alone in age since many of his friends did not want to go), Muizz resumed his tasks as a Khilafat team member at the 60th Annual Jalsa Salana USA in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. “I was so happy. I was really excited. They gave us jackets, an MKA hat and it felt good being part of MKA USA! There were some objections of me being on duty, but once everyone heard of the news of my presence in the Khilafat Team- they were honored.” Fifteen minutes after Hazoor (ABA) arrived, Muizz’s elder partner had to go to the bathroom. During his absence, a small minivan had approached the area, and was trying to enter into a restricted lot. Muizz stopped the minivan and requested the driver to turn around and park at the open lot next to the facility. The minivan’s driver was not happy with this instruction: “I want to go here. You are only a kid! You’re not suppose to be on duty. I am 18.” Muizz replied, “There is reserved parking next to Hazoor, only for a Murrabi.” The frustrated Jalsa participant looked back at the lot and made his decision. He looked away from Muizz, and drove over him. The foot was crushed and Muizz fainted. “The next thing I realized was that I was in the wheel chair and my father had just arrived.” Sadr, Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Dr. Faheem Younus learned of this event, and was deeply impressed by Muizz's courage. Sadr sb asked Muizz, what was going through his mind when he was trying to deal with the Jalsa attendee? Muizz replied, "I don't want them to take away my duty." Muizz however was glad that he still went. “It was a once in a lifetime experience; it is a story that I can tell my children. This story is: go to Jalsa and get an experience and be part of the Khilafat Team.” Muizz made it to the 30th Khilafat National Ijtema 2008 and was part of the historic milestone of 1111 participants. “The National Ijtema was a fun and good experience. I learned some people are nice, some people understand, but some people don’t care- and as Ahmadis, we should try to change that.” In his final comment, Muiz added, “I can’t wait to be a Khadim.” Story by Safeer Bhatti |
