2009 July - Mabroor Khan

This month’s Shining Star is Mabroor Ahmad Khan, who is 18 years old, and along with his two brothers, lives in Wauconda, Illinois.  Mabroor was born on February 27, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois.  Ever since he was a young child, his father would take him to the mosque to give him the habit of going to the mosque when he would grow older.  Since then, he has been involved in the Jama’at and is currently the Nazim-e-Atfal of Chicago West Majlis.  In school, Mabroor was a good student.  He graduated from Wauconda High School a semester early than the rest of his class because of taking extra classes since his freshman year. Since the start of his High School, Mabroor was an Honor Roll student.  Mabroor received the President’s Education Award for his high academics.  He is currently in college taking his courses in general studies.  He plans on going into a field that will help him serve the humanity in anyway. Some of Mabroor’s hobbies are playing sports, cooking, cheering on his Chicago teams, traveling, and hanging out with friends.

Mabroor is highly involved with the jama’at.  When he was a tifl he would work very hard to be at the top in the competitions.  He has been the Nazim-e-Atfal of Chicago West Majlis for over two years now, and he was appointed as the Regional Naib Nazim-e-Atfal of the Midwest Region at the start of this year.  He uses his past experiences, when he used to be a tifl, to help him work as a Nazim-e-Atfal.  He is working very hard with his atfal to make them become a great future for the jama’at.  He enjoys teaching the atfal and loves interacting with the kids. Mabroor does whatever he can to establish great friendship within his atfal, whether he’s joking or serious with them.  He looks forward to continue serving the jama’at in every way possible.
