asif_laurel.jpgJuly 2010 - Asif Malik
Laurel, Headquarter Region

He is currently working as Qaid of Laurel majlis. He was born in Pakistan and raised in a middle class family. He moved to the United States of America in 1992. With many hopes and dreams in mind, he started his early days working as a cashier and loader. He knew in order to reach his dreams and the success that he envisioned, he must focus and work hard in his education. Read more about how he has become successful in this life...

His interests seem to lie in the automotive field which he pursued with great motivation and effort. He received his Associates of Arts degree (AA) in the automotive area with a specific focus in the Toyota service field. He was also blessed and fortunate enough to receive a scholarship during the two year program. After completing this two year program, he passed all of the required ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) exams. He became an ASE certified Master Technician. Four years into this new field, he had passed all exams required by Toyota and officially received the title of “Toyota Master Technician.”

It was in 1998 taking part in a major competition, out of 200 hundred master technicians, he placed in the top 13th spot, passing the Toyota skill contest and reaching in the 94th percentile. After achieving this success he was sent to CAT (Central Atlantic Toyota in Baltimore) a regional level competition and advanced to the next level skill contest. This skill test would only be for the top 13 master technicians from the previous contest. A grueling two day competition with all accommodations paid for by Toyota, he was the only Ahmadi and non-white person to compete at this level. Alhamdolliah he placed 5th in the competition. Oddly enough, he even placed one place higher than the person who had initially hired me.

Later he was recognized for his achievements in the quarterly issue of the Toyota Tech Magazine. His name appeared twice in the magazine recognizing him for all the success he had achieved in the competitions.

He thanks Allah and his parents for all their prayers for his achievements. May Allah help us all achieve our dreams. Ameen.
