Flier Distribution

"If it was within my power, I would have desired to go from door to door like beggars and propagate the True Religion of Allah and thereby rescue humanity from polytheism (Shirk) and disbelief (Kufr). If Allah would grant me the knowledge of the English language, I would personally embark on preaching (Tabligh) expeditions and spend my entire life in this pursuit, even if I were to die in this cause."   - Promised Messiah  (Malfuzat, vol. 3, page 291-292, 1984)

The number one focus for the Department of Tabligh during the 2010-2011 Khuddam year will be to distribute fliers across the country. MKA USA has made a commitment to Hazrat Khalifat-ul-Masih (aba) that we will hand-deliver 500,000 fliers this year. In order to accomplish this large goal of distributing half a million fliers in one year, each Majlis will need to do its part. We are asking every Khadim to distribute 300 fliers during the course of the year (25 fliers per month).

Generally speaking, there are two ways to distribute fliers:

  1. Go door-to-door
  2. Distribute fliers in a crowded area

DOOR TO DOOR
Going door-to-door in neighborhoods may take longer but lends itself to the development of stronger contacts because each interaction generally lasts longer than in a crowded area. To execute this properly, Khuddam should walk around a neighborhood (preferably in pairs) and knock on people’s doors. Once the person opens the door, the Khadim just delivers a simple greeting of introduction and offers a “Muslims for Peace” flier along with a short explanation that all Muslims are not terrorists and we feel that Muslims need to stand up and speak about the true nature of their faith. The intention is not to get too preachy but just to deliver the message. If the person seems interested in hearing more, then certainly a longer dialogue can be initiated.

Do not put any fliers in people’s mailboxes, and do not mail these fliers as an advertisement to people. We also prefer that you do not to leave fliers at people’s doorsteps in the event that they do not answer the door. The idea is to deliver the flier hand-to-hand.

Focus on neighborhoods around the mosque, as well as around where members live and also inner city and urban areas. Fliers should also be distributed in the small town you have adopted.

CROWDED AREAS
Gathering a group of Khuddam and going to a crowded area or event has proven to be a very effective way to distribute our fliers. Whether you go downtown, to a Saturday market, a conference, city/county/state fairs, parades, college campuses or any other public event, when you are in a crowded area, you have the ability to distribute more fliers in a shorter amount of time simply because of the number of people.

Since most people will be passing by, you may not have the opportunity to say much to them, but make sure to say something. Do not just hand fliers without saying anything. Greet them and offer them a flier while succinctly explaining what we are trying to do.

TRACKING OUR PROGRESS
As the year goes on, we will be monitoring our progress towards this target of 500,000 fliers. Click here to see the progress that each Majlis is making towards its local goal. This will give you the details of how we are performing around the country. The below graph illustrates how we are progressing month-to-month towards our goal.:
