Muslims for Peace in Pittsburgh

1000+ Fliers Handed Out in Pittsburgh in Two Hours

mfp_pittsburgh_1211-3On a snowy Saturday afternoon in mid-December (noon-time on Dec 17th), eleven members (4 Ansar, 4 Khuddam, and 3 Atfal) met at Baitun Nur, our mosque in Wilkinsburg, to distribute ‘Muslims for Peace’ fliers. They started with pizza and camaraderie, then offered salat in congregation, and then swiftly organized themselves into three groups.

One group, made up of Qaid Sahib and two loin-hearted Atfal, scoured the streets of Wilkinsburg for pedestrians so that they could offer the greet
ings of ‘happy holidays’ as they handed them about 80 fliers over a three mile loop. A second group of three brothers drove to East Liberty and distributed about 310 fliers, including at a local non-Ahmadi Mosque. The third and largest group of five went to the heart of the shopping district in Pittsburgh (called the ‘Pittsburgh Strip District’) and handed out 750 fliers. The grand total within two hours was 1140 fliers. Jazakallah to Dr. Kamaldeen Muili for organizing the effort and to all of the participants for coming out, despite the cold weather, and for answering the call of our beloved Imam to spread the true message of Islam and peace.
