Waqar-e-Amal (Volunteer Services) Archived version

Introduction:
Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya was founded by Hadhrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih II [ra].  To inculcate volunteerism and develop concept of Dignity of Labor, Hazur started organizing Waqar-e-Amal Days on which the whole community, young and old, regardless of rank or status in life would all get together and with manual labor undertake community work like filling ditches, cleaning the neighborhood or build small patches of dirt road for the benefit of the community.  His love for the youth is very evident in the awe inspiring personal example he lead.  It is related that Huzur [ra] used to present himself for Waqar-e-Amal, that he used to arrive, take off his turban, and then with his own hands dig some earth, collect it in a basket and carry it to the appropriate place.  This motivated and inspired the whole community and they all joined in the venture with zeal and enthusiasm.

Literally, the “Dignity of Labor” the work performed during sessions of Waqar e Amal is saturated with blessings and this department aims to give all Khuddam a chance to partake of them while encompassing the following key objectives:

  • Every Khadim should do work and avoid laziness.
  • False prestige should never become a hurdle.
  • Never look down upon any person on account of his lower occupation in the society.
  • Try to make best use of leisure time in doing some useful work.
  • Be educated in such a way that one will never beg to others under any circumstances in one's daily life.
  • Get accustomed to pain, struggle and hard work
Project Waqar e Amal
Giving back to the community

For the month of March, MKA USA is focusing its efforts on Waqar e Amal.  To this end a letter has been sent by Sadr MKA USA to Jamaat presidents all over United States requesting them to work with the local qaideen and waqar e amal nazimeen in identifying a major project that can be accomplished in local mission houses.  In Jamaats where there are no mosques or mission houses, the local qaideen and waqar e amal nazimeen, with guidance from the Jamaat Presidents can select projects that serve the local community.  Examples of such projects include, but are not limited to, cleaning local public parks or helping elderly/disabled jamaat members with house repairs.

We have set forth the following parameters for general guidance:

  1. This should be a one-time project
  2. Actual time should not exceed one weekend
  3. Local Jamaat shall subsidize associated materials and supplies expenditure

Regional Qaideen will be working with the local majalis in ensuring that the projects are identified and dates of implementation are set by 03/07/10.  As this information is made available to the department of Waqar e Amal (mkawaqareamal@gmail.com), it will be posted on the Waqar e Amal website.  At the end of the month once all projects are completed we will tally up the hours and the region with the highest number of hours and with the highest percentage of Majalis participation will be crowned the winner of Project Waqar e Amal.

Let's do the numbers...

For the year 2008/2009, MKA recorded over 23 thousand hours of service. Close to 17 thousand of these hours were oriented towards Jamaat Activities while a little over 6 thousand hours were serviced externally in projects such as Adopt A Highway. Your hard work translated into MKA providing Man Power that would have otherwise cost us close to 41 thousand dollars a month. Here are the top performers: click here for details...
