Muslims For Peace Flier Distribution at Dallas Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade

A group of twelve Khuddam and six Ansar gathered at a rail station near Dallas, Texas following Fajr on the morning of December 4, 2010 to participate in a Tabligh outreach program. These brothers distributed the “Muslims for Peace” fliers to families as they travelled to a Children’s Parade in downtown Dallas. Once the rush had subsided, these brothers gathered on a train and took their fliers and the message of peace to the parade grounds and continued to distribute fliers. Attracted by the “Muslims for Peace” t-shirts several families approached the brothers requesting fliers and more information. By the Grace of Allah, about 4,000 fliers were distributed to the families attending the parade. The efforts of our Tabligh have not gone unnoticed by many Dallas residents as one woman noted upon receiving a flier that she read an article regarding Ahmadiyya Muslim Community written by our brother Ahmed Malik which had been posted to the Dallas Morning News. One brother was also approached by a local police officer who requested a flier as well. Very few people refused a flier and people who received a flier responded positively to our program. With the blessings of Allah and the guidance of Hazur (aba) our efforts to spread the message of peace will create an impact on our local communities and will play a pivotal role in our endeavor to raise the name of Islam. INSHALLAH

Comments from a khadim who participated in the flier distribution:

1: What were your initial thoughts about the flier distribution at parade before you went there?

Before I went to the flier distribution for the parade, I was really confused to what it was going to be like. Who was going to accept the message? I mean it is a holiday parade flooded with Christians and I thought the last thing they would want is a "Muslims for Peace" flier.

2: How easy did you find this distribution?

Comparing this to going door-to-door, this is much easier. Not only that, the response that I received was outstanding. "Muslims for Peace!" "Muslims for Peace!" Those three little words mean so much.

3: What did you like most about this flier distribution?

What I liked most about this distribution is the amount of fliers we distributed in a short amount of time. In just three hours, Dallas Jamaat distributed 4000 fliers.

4: Any comment for someone who is planning on doing flier distribution at public event?

It is an amazing experience! The diversity of the responses, from the good to the bad, was awesome.

  Khidmat e Khalq Activities
November 2009

Tulsa:  A group of Khadim went to a local homeless shelter and were able to feed approximately 50 residents. It went very well and the residents were very grateful. At the event they were also able to get the message of Islam out.

Dallas: Adopt-a-Family Kathleen Lesko is a poor lady with some health conditions and skin disease. She lives by herself in an apartment. She called our mosque and asked for help with food and some household items. Since she had health conditions she was in need for specific food items and needed specific brand of dish washing soap etc. For her we purchased about 12 cans of vegetables, beans & fruits, dish-washing liquid, paper towels, tissues and bedding set. Soup Kitchen This month we prepared and distributed meals to around 230 homeless/poor people. Two separate activities were performed at two different locations. One was at homeless meal distribution point in South Dallas and the other at Samaritan Inn Mckinney TX where food and manpower both were provided by khuddam. Visits to Elderly care facilities Khuddam participated in two meals-on-wheels drives where lunch was delivered to 26 elderly people in elderly care homes within 3 miles radius. Mohtamim Sahib, I am not sure if this should be reported under Soup Kitchen as well because in this activity we go door to door to elderly/sick people and provide them lunch boxes. Clothes drive About 30 items of clothes and shoes were donated this month.
