Dear Khuddam, السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته With the conclusion of the blessed month of Ramadan, Eid Mubarak to all of you! It's always a time for exultation and unbridled joy. The lights are lit at home, new clothes are donned, and mother makes her best sweets. But sometimes there's a lingering regret mingled with that joy - a feeling that we didn't quite do enough during Ramadan. People are often heard saying, "I wish I could have done more." More prayers, more Qur'an, more sacrifice, just not enough time to do more, etc. My dear brothers, that chance to do more lay ahead. It is not an opportunity missed. It's a opportunity that lay ahead. And you are conditioned really well in this moment to take on the rigors of advanced spirituality. Just fasting for Allah's sake alone gives you the discipline and self-restraint you need, even without some of the bonus points that come with nightly tarawee, tahajjud, and completing a read...

Dear Khuddam, السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته Today is MLK Day, and I wished to say a few words. The themes of civil rights activism and racial equality are being remembered. The ancestors of our African Americans faced unimaginable cruelty for centuries. Many horrifying details of those stories remain untold. We don't celebrate people so much as we celebrate and honor the legacies which people commonly associate with them.  As such, MKA USA joins the rest of America today in honoring racial equality. Anyone who thinks they can honor racial integration by remembering it on one day of the year has missed the point. Our Holy Prophet (sa) taught us a message for all times.  In his final sermon he said: A white is no greater than a black, and an Arab is no greater than a non-Arab. It is a point of reflection for us all, especially for the "white" and the "Arab" of today's Jamaat. The Prophet (sa) continued by saying: The only...

My dear Ahmadi youth, We are outraged by the violence we see around the world being done in the name of Islam. The future it seems is becoming increasingly insecure and uncertain. But rather than be afraid or uneasy, recognize this is a timely opportunity given to you by Allah to tell others what true Islam is. No community has the guidance or credentials to speak about it like ours does. If you’ve never done tabligh in your life, this is the time to start. Trust me when I say it doesn't take much and it's easier than you think. Meanwhile, if at any time you are treated unfairly for reasons related to your faith, it is absolutely paramount that your conduct remain patient, honorable and dignified. The Holy Qur’an reminds us that when the ignorant address you, remain graceful and offer them a word of ‘peace’ (Holy Qur’an 25:64). So in such a situation, be the better Muslim and be the...

Having studied the Holy Quran...

Abdul Hai Thomas - Jacksonville, Florida   In July 1991 and November 1992 I begged my mother to take me to see ‘Boyz n the Hood’ and ‘Malcolm X’. Although hesitant to let a 9-10 year old watch violent movies, she agreed to take me as long she “covered [my] eyes during the bad parts”. However, I wasn’t interested in the violence or the bad parts, I was intrigued by the cultural and societal implications of the stories. After watching those two movies, four scenes left indelible impressions on me: 1) Furious Styles taking Tre and Ricky to Compton and telling them about gentrification 2) Ricky being killed by gang violence 3) Malcolm X struggling to fall to his knees in submission 4) Malcolm X’s pilgrimage to Mecca In connecting these scenes, even as a young child, I knew that Islam was the remedy. In that theater in Dayton, Ohio, November 1992, Allah Almighty chose me. I turned to my mother and told her I was going...

Sermon Delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad at Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community With the grace of God Jalsa Salana of Jama'at Ahmadiyya UK starts from next week. Volunteers have been busy for past several weeks at Hadiqatul Mahdi preparing for Jalsa. These preparations by Khuddam and other volunteers have intensified in the last ten days. It is no mean feat to make all the arrangements on what is essentially farmland. Khuddam from various parts of the UK and other volunteers do this task with amazing skill, and no example of this can be found in the whole world in any other organisation. It is a grace of God that He has instilled this passion in young men and others after taking Bai'at of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Sunshine or rain these young men serve selflessly for Jalsa Salana as initiated and established by the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). And during Jalsa days thousands of...

by: Abdul Hai Thomas بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ As Almighty Allah opened the gates of paradise this Ramadan, I felt it happening. As I called the Adhan, I felt angels making straight rows, and Allah running shaitan out of my veins. I was filled with so much light and excitement, I could not recall Iqamat. I attempted to recite it, but was so overwhelmed I could only remember ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar’. I turned to my wife and conveyed my awe. She said, “I feel it too. Just take a second and relax.” That feeling has not yet subsided. I have almost completed my first Arabic reading of the Holy Qur’an. During previous Blessed Months, I completed the English readings (including commentary), but reading it in Arabic has fostered a deeper connection with Allah Almighty, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), the re-institution of Khilafat through Promised Messiah (as), and mankind. My fear and love of our Creator has increased beyond imagination due to His...
