Writings of Hazrat Masih-e-Maud (as) from "Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam": The source of moral state of man is designated by the Holy Quran as Nafsi Lawwamah.  It desires that man should be good in a good state and should practice good morals, and no kind of intemperance should be manifested in any aspect of human life, and natural emotions and desires should be regulated by reason.   Allah says in Holy Quran (referring to the spiritual state of man):  O soul at peace! Return to your Lord well pleased with Him and He well pleased with you.  So enter you among My chosen servants, and enter you My garden. (89:28-31)...

MKA FIT - Student Athlete Spotlight: Kaashif Qaderi A true student-athlete is one who wants to excel both in the classroom and on the field or court” proclaims Saiyed Kaashif Qaderi, Sehet-e-Jismani’s Student-Athlete Spotlight. A passionate, Khadim from Lisle, IL, Kaashif was a prolific student and a hard-working athlete in high school, training competitively until he fought his way into the Junior Varsity basketball team despite the fact that his peers thought he would not make the team. Off the court, Kaashif joined the Debate Team and also became a writing tutor to help other students succeed. Interestingly, Kaashif proposes that being an athlete can help you “physically and mentally” as a student by helping create extra “positive energy” to allow you to concentrate and study. Kaashif’s most impressive attributes, however, are his resiliency, his optimism, and his gratefulness to Allah. He relates, "During track season, I believe I wore my knee down running hurdles. And as a result, just prior to my...

Friday Sermon delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad at Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. ‘Or, Who answers the distressed person when he calls upon Him, and removes the evil, and makes you successors in the earth? Is there a God besides Allah? Little is it that you reflect.’ (27:63) The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) repeatedly advised his Jama’at to greatly focus on prayer because the progress of the Jama’at and release from the evil of the enemy is through prayer! He clearly explained that our only weapon to triumph over the enemy is prayer. How much significance should we then pay to prayer and how much should we focus on it; indeed, how much significance and focus do we lay on it. This can be gauged by everyone by reflecting over their own condition. Recently a relative recounted a dream of theirs to Huzoor in which Huzoor is telling them that Ramadan has passed very quickly while Huzoor intended to draw...

Tarbiyyat Extracts from 8/1/14 Friday Sermon: "The Contemptible Gujranwala Attacks" We should keep our faith strong. Just as the Holy Qur’an states, these people will ignite fires and most certainly they will, however, they will not be able to achieve the objective behind their actions. The sacrifice of these innocents will InshaAllah never be fruitless. ...

Musa Anwar is Sehet-e-Jismani’s Student-Athlete Spotlight. Musa is a 21 year-old Khadim from Silver Spring, MD, and has proven himself to be a talented baller on the court. After being cut  from the basketball team his first two years, he ultimately earned his spot on the Varsity Team during his senior year in high school. Musa explains that being a part of Majlis Khuddamul-Ahmadiyya “was always a huge drive and factor in [his] pursuit of elevating [his] game”  because he would always look forward to competing in MIST, the Masroor International Sports Tournament, when he was young. As a  result, these experiences helped him understand the importance of “perseverance and commitment” toward achieving one’s goals, and  eventually, he worked his way to receive the Varsity Letter in Basketball. Finally, Musa urges to his fellow Khadim and his fellow student-    athletes that, when you have a goal, “Commit to it. Don't be afraid of giving something your 100% effort even if...

Following Hadith taken from "Gardens of the Righteous" : The Holy Prophet (saws) said: No one of you should wish for death because of any misfortune that befalls him.  Should anyone be so afflicted, he should say: Allah, keep me alive so long as life is the better for me, and cause me to die when death is the better for me (Bokhari and Muslim) The Holy Prophet (saws) said: High reward is for high endeavor; and when Allah, the Exalted, loves a people, he puts them to trial.  Then for him who accepts the affliction cheerfully, is His pleasure, and for him who evades or shirks it, is His wrath (Tirmidhi)...

Following Hadith taken from "Gardens of the Righteous" : A woman came to the Holy Prophet (Saws) and said: Messenger of Allah, I suffer from epilepsy and when I have a fit, my body is exposed.  Please pray to Allah for me.  He said: If you choose to be steadfast under this affliction, you will gain Paradise, but if you so wish I shall pray that Allah may heal you.  She said: I shall be steadfast, but please pray that my body may not be exposed.  He prayed accordingly.  (Bokhari and Muslim) The Holy Prophet (saws) said:  Whatever trouble, illness, anxiety, grief, hurt, or sorrow afflicts a Muslim, even the pricking of a thorn, but Allah removes instead some of his defaults. (Bokhari and Muslim)...

I’d imagine that every child began his or her relationship with Ramadan the same way I did. With much excitement followed by intense bewilderment, then “nose to the grindstone” determination followed by ultimate euphoria. Get ready kids! This is your first day of Ramadan! I imagine many of us would remember as we approached our first fast. We had seen our parents and jamaat members fast and talk about the spiritual benefits of fasting. We’d been excited to eventually be a part of it. We’d look forward to that day when we are no longer simply children but are practicing Muslims making real significant sacrifices for our faith. The day comes when you’re finally of age and you’d hardly slept the night before due to the anticipation. You’d be excited to awake in the early morning hours. To shuffle around, quietly getting your pre fast meal together and talking in hushed tones with your family so not to wake the younger siblings. There would be...

The concept of the Farewell Friday is something Muslims or the religious scholars have concocted through their own incorrect interpretations. Generally speaking Traditions say that it (Laylatul Qadr) should be looked for in the odd nights during last ten days of Ramadan. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was given the knowledge of the specific date of the Night of Destiny (Laylatul Qadr) during which a true believer experiences special acceptance of prayers. ...
