Sacrifice For The Soul

Alhamdulillah the Khuddam year is coming to an end. We all have been a part of some amazing events and experiences this year that enhanced our faith and strengthened our brotherhood. But we have to remember, none of this is possible without prayers and sacrifice. In our MKA pledge, we vow sacrifice our life, time and honor to serve the Jamaat and our Majalis. But we want to bring everyone’s attention to the sacrifice of WEALTH. I want to draw your attention to this story of sacrifice made by a companion of the Promised Messiah (as) as told by Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra):

“Just a few months after the demise of the Promised Messiah (as), Hazrat Munshi Arora sb (ra) came to my house. When I went outside I saw that Munshi Sahib was waiting for me. After a very warm handshake and greeting he took out a few pound sterling from his pocket and asked me to hand over those to Hadrat Amma Jan (the wife of the Promised Messiah (as)). No sooner did he utter those words that he started to cry loudly and profusely. After a while, when he contained himself, I asked him what made him cry. He stated that when he was poor, he would travel to Qadian whenever he could get time off from work. He would walk on foot there so he could save up money and present it to the Promised Messiah (as). When he came there and saw rich people giving large amounts for the sake of their faith, in his heart he wished that if he had enough money, he would donate gold pieces instead of silver to the Promised Messiah (as). Gradually his pay increased and he started saving some money each month with the aim that if he reached his goal, he would exchange it for pounds and present it to the Promised Messiah (as). When he had money equivalent to a pound, he would convert it and right away start collecting again. He kept repeating this until he had enough pounds to meet his goal. After saying this, he started crying again, and when he gathered himself, he stopped crying and told me that he had enough money now, but the Promised Messiah (as) was gone.”

With a few days left in both the year of Khuddam/Atfal Chanda and Tehrik-e-Jadid, we are asking everyone to search inside themselves and ask if they have lived up to the standard of our dearest Hazrat Masih Maud (as) and his companions as stated above. Here is some more information about each chanda.

How much do I have to pay?

Khuddam Chanda (earning/you have a job): 1% of annual take home income (Majlis) + 2.5% of monthly take home income (Ijtema)

Words of the Promised Messiah (as)

It is now time for all those who count themselves among my followers, that they should help this Movement with their money. If someone can only afford one paisa (1/100 of a rupee), he should pay one paisa each month for the requirements of the movement; he who can afford a rupee should offer a rupee each month…Everyone who has accepted the Ba’iat should help according to his means, so that Allah too should help them. If the assistance is received regularly every month, even if it is minor, it is better than that which is made upon impulse after a long time of negligence. Every person’s sincerity can only be judged by the service he offers.

O my dear ones! This is the time for helping the faith and fulfilling its requirements. Make use of it, for this time will never return.
